Kajetan Garbiński

Cajetan Garbiński ( born August 7, 1796 in Warsaw, † May 6, 1847 ) was a Polish mathematician and politician.

Life

Garbiński studied at the University of Warsaw, at the Collège de France and the Sorbonne in Paris. In 1820 he returned to Warsaw and was a high school teacher of mathematics and at the same time university teachers of geometry and in 1823 professor of Warsaw University, later the University of Warsaw, he was its rector in 1826. He was an officer during the November Uprising and held executive positions in its leadership. After the suppression of the rebellion, the TU Warsaw was closed for half a century, what Garbiński forced to earn his living as an estate manager in the country.
