Kakadu dunnart

Sminthopsis bindi, in English under the name Kakadu dunnart ( " Kakadu Schmalfuß bag mouse " ), is a Beutelsäugerart from the kind of Schmalfuß Bag mice. The species was not described until 1994.

These bags mouse reached a total length 1.1 to 1.9 cm, wherein the tail is almost always longer than the body and constitutes 0.6 to 1.1 centimeters. The kind reaches a weight of 10 to 25 grams. Their fur is gray on the top, the belly and the feet are whitish.

The species occurs in the Top End of the Northern Territory of Australia in and around Kakadu National Park before. It prefers rocky, hilly woodland habitat.

Little is known about their way of life. The diet should consist of insects, the fall mating in the dry season.

Sminthopsis bindi is listed by the IUCN as uncritical ( least concern ), but that is out of date.
