Kaknästornet

The Kaknästornet (Swedish Kaknästornet ) is a combined lookout and radio tower in Stockholm and with a height of 155 meters (170 meters with antenna) the tallest building accessible for tourists in Sweden.

The Kaknästornet is located in Djurgården district. It was planned and built 1964-67. Architect were the partners Borgström & Lindroos. He is like most modern TV towers a reinforced concrete structure, which, however, in contrast to most other TV towers has a square cross section. The platforms for the antennas and the restaurant also have a square base, these are rotated at an angle of 45 degrees from the tower shaft, which gives interesting shadows. In the upper part there is a restaurant and observation deck are located on the 30th floor. From Kaknästornet from the entire radio, television and satellite communications of the Swedish radio and television programs is monitored and controlled.
