Kalami (also Gawri or Garwi ) is a dardische language that is spoken by 40,000 people in northern Pakistan. It is divided into several dialects that are mutually unintelligible in some cases.

Kalami has six vowels that can occur all short, long and nasalized. It has 38 consonants, of which five used only in foreign words. In addition, Kalami is a tonal language and has five tones ( high, high falling, high falling delayed, deep, deep rising).

The word order is SOV, but can be changed for emphasis.

Until recently, Kalami was no written language. 1995 from seven Kalami - speakers developed a written language for the Kalami, a committee, which is based on the persoarabischen alphabet, but uses some rare special characters such as ݭ or ݪ to represent specific sounds of Kalami.
