Kalindula

Kalindula is originally a specific Zambian Zupfstil on a homemade banjo.

This style developed in the area Luapula among the Bemba. In the 1970s, Kalindula developed into a style that is widely influenced the Zambian popular music. It combines easily with the African song style of call and response.

The earliest recordings as that of the group or the group Serenje Kalindula Amayenge of which are marked throughout. But soon replaced the guitar, the banjo. The style Kalindula gained more and more elegance and integrated more and more elements of pop and rock. Today Kalindula is the Zambian style of popular music par excellence.
