Kaliningrad Regional Drama Theatre

The building of the Drama Theatre Kaliningrad was built as a modern theater building in the former Königsberg. Today it is as Kaliningradski oblastnoi dramatitscheski teatr (Russian Калининградский областной драматический театр ) a significant venue.

Building

The theater, an important building in the classical style, is located in the theater space behind the fountain. The building has columns with composite capitals historicist under a triangular pediment. It bears elaborate stucco decorations, show the known profiles of major dramatists. Among the generous donors belonged Felix Japha.

The building was built by architect Walter cuckoo instead of the Villa Kurowski in the hooves Allee 2 in Königsberg. On September 23, 1912 was the grand opening. When the air raids on Königsberg, the building was badly damaged.

After the war, the building, designed by architect PW Kuchtenkow ( П. В. Кухтенков ) has been restored. The theater was opened on 22 April 1960. The auditorium had 900 seats. In 2004 he was renewed the 750th anniversary of Kaliningrad.

Use before the Second World War

First, the New Theatre Luis moved into the building. They played operas, operettas and plays. Under the merchant Bruno Dumont du Voitel it was established in 1923 to Komische Oper; but the company was not profitable. After the Berlin theater architect Oskar Kaufmann had expanded the auditorium to 980 seats, recorded in 1927, the ensemble of the New Schauspielhaus the building.

Later, the merger with the municipal theater Königsberg to East Prussian State Theatre took place. The New Theatre was a famous theater in the German Reich. Here had artists such as Hans Somborn, Hildegard Fränzel, Charlotte Daudert, Max Pallenberg, Leopold Jessner, Albert Lieven, Hans Rameau, Claus Clausen, Leopold Jessner, Serious Rotmund, Albin Skoda, Hermann Wedekind, Friedrich Kalbfuß, Josef Gielen and Julia Serda.

Drama Theatre

1960 moved into the ensemble of the drama theater, the building, its present venue. The Drama Theatre was founded in 1947 and had his first season with Simonov A guy from our city ( Парень из нашего города ) started. It consisted largely of graduates of the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts, one of the oldest drama schools in Russia. The ensemble has participated in numerous theater festivals and has numerous excellent actor in his ranks. It led to, among other works of Gorky, Schiller, Mayakovsky, Chekhov and Lermontov.
