Kalkan is a tourist place in the district of developed Kas Antalya Province in southern Turkey. It is located about 27 km west of Kaş on the Mediterranean.
Kaş Kalkan is next to the only place between Fethiye and Antalya, is operated in the still to a greater extent fishing. From 1980, this village was also opened up for tourism.
In the vicinity of Kalkan are the historic sites of Xanthos, Patara and Letoon and form to the Blue Grotto, a popular tourist destination.
History
Before 1920, Kalkan was predominantly inhabited by Greeks. The Treaty of Lausanne of 1923 all the Greeks were forced to leave the city and founded the city of Lavrio in Attica.
