Kálmán Kulcsár

Kálmán Kulcsár (* June 27, 1928 in Erdőtelek, Heves, Hungary; † 4 September 2010 in Budapest, Hungary) was a Hungarian legal sociologist and politician.

Life

After completing his law degree, which he completed in Budapest, he was at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences first research staff, then from 1969 to 1983 director of the Institute of Sociology. In 1982 he became a full member of the Academy, 1983, he was elected its Deputy Secretary-General. He taught from 1963 to 1970 as an assistant professor at the University of Pécs, then as a full professor at the Eotvos Lorand University in Budapest.

From May 29 1988 to May 22, 1990, he was Hungarian Minister of Justice in the Cabinets of Károly Grósz and Miklós Németh. During this time he directed the preparation of a new constitution. From 1990 to 1993 he was Ambassador of Hungary in Canada.
