Kalpetta ( Malayalam: കല്പറ്റ Kalpatta [ kalpət ː a] ) is a city in the southern Indian state of Kerala. It is located in the mountains of northern Kerala to 780 meters beyond the main chain of the Western Ghats. Kalpetta is the administrative seat of the district of Wayanad. The population is 29,602 ( 2001 census). By Kalpetta the National Highway 212 runs from Kozhikode to Mysore. The city is a transportation hub through which the tourist destinations in the region can be achieved, and a trade center for the agricultural products of the plantations in the area.
