Kamal Sido

Kamal Sido - Kurdaxi (also: Kemal Sido; * 1961 in Afrin, Syria ) is a Syrian- Kurdish historian who lives in Germany.

Sido grew up in the Kurdish region of Syria. After finishing school, he went to Moscow in 1980, where he studied history and Oriental studies. In 1989 he finished his studies with a doctorate at the Oriental Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. He lives in Germany since 1990.

Kamal Sido is the author of several publications in Kurdish, Arabic, Russian, German and Turkish. By 2006, lived and worked in Marburg. Since 2006 he is Middle East consultant of the Society for Threatened Peoples (STP ) in Göttingen. He is sworn in as an interpreter or translator for Kurdish, Arabic and Russian.

Kamal Sido is engaged in Germany for several years in the FDP politically and led the 2003-2006 Council of Foreigners in Marburg.
