Kamil al-Husayni

Kamil al -Husseini (Arabic: كامل الحسيني; * February 23, 1867, † March 31, 1921 in Jerusalem) was a Sunni religious leader and from 1908 until his death, Grand Mufti of Jerusalem.

Al -Husseini was the son of Mohammed Tahir al - Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem first; when his father died in 1908, he became his successor in office. Unlike his father he sought during the time of the British Mandate for a compromise with the British and the Zionists, with their deputies he met. The British authorities appointed him chairman of the Court of Appeals and later the director of the High Waqf Committee.

After his death, his half-brother Mohammed Amin al -Husseini was appointed Mufti.
