Traffic

Kamina is the intersection point of three lines of the Société Nationale des Chemins de fer du Congo. The city is located on the National Road 1 between Mwene - Ditu and Likasi, which leads straight from the mouth of the Congo to the south of the country on the border with Zambia. The city has a civilian airport and a military airfield about 30 km northeast of the city.

The city was also known as the site of a former military base of the Belgian armed forces, on which during the Congo crisis of the German mercenary Siegfried Müller worked.

The complex consisted after the Second World War from an air base that was used for training of pilots and a second complex to training for airborne troops. When the Congo in June 1960 gained independence, the Belgians kept initially in consultation with the new government in control of the military base, in October 1960 the base was however handed over to the United Nations.
