Kamran Diba
Kamran Diba ( born March 5, 1937 in Tehran ) is an internationally acclaimed Iranian architects and urban planners. He joined in the 60s out as a painter and one of the leading artists of modern Tehran school.
In his buildings, he combines classical Islamic architectural elements with modern concepts of space.
Career
In the years 1958-64 Diba studied architecture and sociology at Howard University (Washington, DC). After returning to Tehran in 1966, he worked as a freelance architect.
He founded in 1968 together with Amir Rezvani, Farzin Sadeghi, D. Zayam, K. Farnoush, A. Vakili, Ahmed Kashanijo and Parviz Rezagholizadeh the leading Iranian architects DAZ.
1976-77 he was director of the MMA Tehran and lecturer at the University of Tehran.
He moved in 1977 to Paris and Washington, DC, and was a lecturer at Cornell University ( Ithaca, NY).
