The University of Kanagawa (Japanese神奈川 大学, Kanagawa daigaku, in short:神 大, Jindai not Shindai ) is a private university in Japan. The main campus is located in Rokkakubashi, Kanagawa -ku, Yokohama in Kanagawa Prefecture.

History

The origin of the university was established in 1928, the Academy Yokohama (横 浜 学院, Yokohama Gakuin ), a private evening school. 1929, the school management school in Yokohama (横 浜 専 门 学校, Yokohama Semmon Gakko ) has been renamed. She had a day time course ( Commercial Science ) and evening classes ( commercial and legal science ).

On May 15, 1930, she opened the present-day Yokohama campus. Began in 1933, the scholarship system. In 1939, she founded technical courses in teaching machines and electronics. In 1949 she became the University of Kanagawa.

First, the university wanted the name " University Yokohama", but the name still wanted two ( state and local ) universities. So they chose " the University of Kanagawa " (see the Yokohama National University ).
