The Kansai University (关 西 大学Japanese, Kansai daigaku, in short: Kandai (关 大) ) is a private university in Japan. The main campus is located in Suita in the prefecture of Osaka. It is one of the largest private universities in western Japan.

History

The Kansai University was in 1886 by the Ōsakaer lawyers as Kansai Law School (关 西 法律 学校, Kansai hōritsu Gakko ) was founded. She was the first law school in Osaka in 1905 and developed into a legal and economic specialized school, Shiritsu Daigaku Kansai (私立 关 西 大学, dt "Private Kansai University" ) was called. In 1920 she was renamed Kansai Daigaku, in its present name. In 1922 she moved to the Senriyama campus and gained university status. Yamaoka Juntaro (山冈 顺 太郎), the first president to put the motto of Kansai University: " Praktifizierung of Sciences " (Japanese学 の 実化, English Academic Practicalization. ).

The first university lacked the science faculties. But in 1958 she founded the Faculty of Engineering and 1994, the Faculty of Comprehensive computer science in the new Takatsuki campus. 2007, the Faculty of Engineering in three technical faculties was divided. In April 2010, two schools in the new campus ( Takatsuki Muse Campus (Japanese高槻 ミューズ キャンパス, Takatsuki myūzu kyampasu ) and Sakai - campus) were opened.
