Kansas City Shuffle is originally a song by the jazz pianist Bennie Moten.

History

It was recorded in 1926 in Chicago. The piece takes about 3 min. and was played in shuffle rhythm from the Kansas City Orchestra. The song was covered in 2006 by Joshua Ralph as a soundtrack to the movie Lucky Number Slevin.

Use in film

In Lucky Number Slevin a diversion is described with Kansas City Shuffle, which according to Mr. Goodkat ( Bruce Willis ) therefore works because ( in the original English "all the world looks to the right as you go left around. ": "When everybody looks right, you go left. ") of the Kansas City Shuffle is Applied to get to two well-guarded mafia bosses, by the main character Slevin Kelevra ( Josh Hartnett ) is brought by Mr. Goodkat under an assumed name as a decoy into play. At the end of the film, the audience learns that the name of the deflection maneuver came from the song that just ran when turning on the car radio decades ago.
