Kaposvári Rákóczi FC

The Kaposvári Rákóczi FC is a football club from Kaposvar, a medium-sized city in southwestern Hungary. The club is named after Francis II Rákóczi, a hero of the Hungarian war of independence at the beginning of the 18th century. With reference to the Somogy county, where the club is located, it is also often called Somogyiak. The colors of the club, which was founded in 1923 by workers from the local sugar factory, are green and white. Play their home games in the club from Kaposvar Rákoczi Stadium, which seats around 7,000 spectators.

The team was relegated in 1975 for the first time in the first Hungarian League, which Nemzeti National Championship I, and initially was able to hold there for three years. In the 1980s the club two more times from the NB I dismounted and spent the years until the resurgence in the 2004 excellence in the second and third division. In the seasons 2005/ 06 and 06 /07 the team was respectively 7, which is the biggest success so far.

The great Hungarian footballer Ferenc Bene (1944-2006) played in his youth until 1961 in Kaposvar. Stefan Auer was also in the 1940s for a long time player and coach of the club, when he was still called Kaposvári Rákóczi SC.
