Kappa Boötis

Bootis κ (kappa Bootis, pronounced " Bo - otes ") is a separable even in small telescopes double star ( angular separation 13.4 " ) consisting of a star of spectral type A8 IV like with an apparent brightness of 4.54 and a somewhat weaker of spectral type F1 V and the brightness 6.58 mag. removal of κ Bootis is approximately 155 light years.

The star bears the historical proper names Asellus Tertius. Θ together with the close neighboring stars and ι Bootis ( Asellus Primus and Asellus Secundus ) is κ Bootis at the northern edge of the constellation, near the handle of the Big Dipper.
