The Karađorđe Stadium (Serbian: Стадион Карађорђе, Karađorđe Stadium ) is a multi-purpose stadium in the second largest Serbian city of Novi Sad, in which the football club Vojvodina Novi Sad plays its home games. The capacity of the stadium is 14,458 seats. Named the stadium is named after the leader of the first Serbian uprising against the Ottoman occupation in the 19th century Đorđe Petrović, called Karađorđe.

History

The stadium was opened on July 28, 1924 at Vidovdan, which is a special memorial and holiday for the Serbs. It is named after the leader of the first Serbian uprising against the Ottoman occupation in the 19th century and the founder of Karadjordjević dynasty Đorđe Petrović, called Karađorđe. Future Development

Early 2012 announced the Board of Directors to more conversions. These include a new South Stand, the reconstruction of the East and West stands and the canopy of the entire stadium. At the end of the stadium will offer approximately 20,000 seats. The south and southwest grandstand was completed in late 2013.
