Karel Kolář

Karel Kolář ( born December 16, 1955) is a Czech athlete who was successful in the late 1970s as a sprinter. His special line was the 400 m.

He won a total of eight national championships over 400 and 200 meters:

In addition, he was successful in the following international events:

  • European Athletics Championships 1978 in Prague: Silver in the 400m in 45.77 s just behind Franz -Peter Hofmeister, who won in 45.73 s Gold
  • Bronze as cage rotor of the Czechoslovak team in the 4 x 400 - meter relay in 3:03,99 minutes behind the Federal Republic of Germany ( gold in 3:02,03 min) and Poland ( silver in 3:02,63 min)

At the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, he took part in the individual competitions, over 400 m, but bowed out of. In the 4 x 400 - meter relay, he came to seventh place.
