Karel Večeřa

Karel Večeřa ( born October 9, 1955 in Ivančice ) is a former Czech football player and current football coach.

Player

Večeřa began playing football at the age of six years at Zbrojovka Brno and went through all the youth teams. At age 18, debuted the defender for the Brno in the first Czechoslovak league. A few months later, he moved to an ankle injury, had to pause for six months, and sat not in the fierce competition by. He was loaned to second-division KPS Brno, in the 1978/79 season, he completed his military service at Dukla Tábor. Then he returned to Zbrojovka, but did not make it back into the starting eleven. Again Večeřa was loaned, this time to the second division VP Frýdek- Místek. He returned briefly to his old club back, his career he finished already with 26 years with KPS Brno.

Coach

Večeřa coached from 1983, first the F- youth, later the C- youth Zbrojovka Brno. After just one season, he joined the club and supervised the Youth B KPS Brno. From 1986 to 1988 he was responsible for the Czech U14 selection. In 1992 he returned to his old, meanwhile Zbrojovka Brno club changed its name to FC Boby and coached youth teams of the club. After one season, he moved to the post of assistant coach of the first team.

When after a few months of the season head coach Vladimír Táborský was released in 1993/94, Večeřa got his chance. In the summer of 1994, he was an assistant coach with the commitment of Petr Uličný again. Only in 1996 Večeřa was ever responsible coach. According to a fourth and a tenth place he was discharged after two opening defeats at the start of the 1998/99 season.

At the end of the same season took Večeřa Petra Drnovice. The following season he led Drnovice to third place, it was the best finish in club history. The following year, the team finished seventh, but financial problems could hardly expect a perspective. Večeřa returned to Brno and led the team to an eighth and a ninth place. After the first round of the 2003/04 season he was released, although the teams stood on rank nine.

In the summer of 2004 Večeřa was coach of the second division FC Highlands Jihlava, which he led at once into the Gambrinus Liga. However, the team was relegated once again. Večeřa then moved to FC Banik Ostrava, with whom he reached the 2006/ 07 in seventh place.
