Karen Jespersen

Karen Jespersen Moustgaard ( born January 17, 1947 in Copenhagen) is a Danish journalist and politician.

Life

The daughter of a laborer and a delicatessen dealer worked after graduating as a journalist, including for Dagbladet Information and the newsroom of the Danish Radio. For many years she was a member of the Social Democrats, for which she was elected to the Folketing on 12 December 1990. From 25 January 1993 to 28 January 1994 of 27 September 1994 to 23 February 2000, she was a member of the Danish government as Minister of Social Affairs. Between 23 February 2000 to 27 November 2001, she was Danish Minister of the Interior. She took more and more a critical attitude to the social democratic immigration policy, which she described as too lenient and generous. Finally, she left in 2004 her party.
