The Carezza ( ital: Lago di Carezza ) is located below the Carezza between the Latemar and Rosengarten, South Tyrol ( Italy).

Location

The lake is located in the western Dolomites on the edge of Latemarwaldes, about 25 km from Bolzano, at an altitude of 1,520 meters in the municipality of Nova Levante. The nearest settlement is Carezza. The lake is 300 m long and 140 m wide and is fed by underground springs from the Latemargebirgszug. The depth and size of the lake is very seasons and weather conditions, the maximum depth is given as 22 m. In winter, it is also sometimes visited by divers who perform their dives under a thick layer of ice and hold it underwater color play in documentaries. Famous is the small mountain lake primarily for his soft, deep green water and beautiful mountain scenery with the Rosengarten and Latemar mountains in the background. Around the lake, many South Tyrolean legends and many painters and writers have grown chose the subject for her paintings and stories.

Accessible is the lake on the state road SS 241 ( Eggentaler state road - also called Dolomite road ). The busy especially in the summer road to Karerpass passes close by the lake. The lake is fenced and its banks may not be entered.
