History and construction

The Karhu 48B was a Finnish four -seater touring aircraft in the 1950s, which could also be equipped with floats or skis. The plane was a high-wing braced with rigid spur wheel landing gear and was powered by an air-cooled Lycoming O- 435A six-cylinder boxer engine. Developed the aircraft was to be used in the far reaches of Finland from unpaved runways. The first flight took place on 20 July 1948. However, since many former military aircraft were available that were cheap to buy, only two were built. One of the two machines was in use until 1973.
