Karim Darwish

Karim Darwish (Arabic كريم درويش, born August 29, 1981 in Giza ) is an Egyptian squash players.

Career

Karim Darwish won in his junior career in 1999, the British Open and 2000 the Squash World Cup against Frenchman Gregory Gaultier. He celebrated his biggest success in 2008 when he won four tournaments in the Super Series and moved into the finals of the individual World Championship, where he was Ramy Ashour defeated in four sets. Thus he advanced to the top of the world rankings in January 2009. So He replaced his compatriot Amr Shabana, of the 33 months continuously held the position until then. From January to November 2009 Darwish defended the top spot before losing it to Gaultier. In December 2009 he stood again for a month at one position before he finally lost to Ramy Ashour. With the Egyptian national team, he was in 2009 and 2011 world champion, having worked with this already became vice world champion in 2001 and 2005. 2003 and 2007 he failed her in the semifinals. In 2013 he was once again runner-up.

Private

Karim Darwish has since December 2007, married to the Egyptian Engy Kheirallah, which is also a professional squash player. The couple has a son.
