Karin Boyd

Karin Boyd ( born 1953 in East Berlin ) is a German actress and theater director.

Life and work

Karin Boyd is the child of an American soldier and a Berliner. She completed a three-year study acting at the State Drama School in Rostock, followed by an additional vocal training at the Department of chanson at the music school in East Berlin Friedrichshain. After working at several small stages they came in 1973 to the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, where they played for ten years. It also had a first film and television duties for the East German DEFA and the GDR television. Her breakthrough as an actress she managed in 1981 in the role of the dancer Juliette Martens István Szabó's in the Oscar-winner film Mephisto on the side of Klaus Maria Brandauer.

In 1983 she moved after her exit visa had been granted, together with her son to West Germany, played from now at German theaters theater, but resigned as A Case for Two and The custom in The Internet. She also moderated in the 1990s, various TV formats.
