Karl Anderson (alpine skier)

Karl Ruben Anderson ( born August 6, 1953, in Lewiston, Maine ) is a former American alpine skier. His special discipline was the descent.

Career

Karl Anderson came in his World Cup career four times into the top ten. His best finish was fifth place in the departure of Jackson Hole on 9 March 1975. European Cup he won in the 1975/76 season with three points ahead of the Swiss Erwin Josi the departure date. In 1978 he became U.S. champion in the downhill. His last World Cup points he brought on 21 December 1980 Rank 15 in the departure of St. Moritz.

Anderson took part in three major events: At the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1976, he was 24th in the downhill at the 1978 World Cup in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, he finished 28th rank. In 1980 he participated in Lake Placid for the second time in the Olympics, but fell there from in downhill skiing.

Anderson was the first alpine skier from the U.S. state of Maine who took part in the Olympics and was inducted into the Maine Ski Hall of Fame in 2005.
