Karl Anton Eugen Prantl

Carl Anton Eugen Prantl (born 10 September 1849 in Munich, † February 24, 1893 in Breslau), Karl Anton Eugen Prantl, was a German botanist and forest scientists. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Prantl ".

Life and work

Prantl studied in Munich. In 1870, he was with the dissertation The inulin. A contribution to plant physiology doctorate. He then worked at Carl Wilhelm von Naegeli and Julius Sachs 1873 he was habilitated at the University of Würzburg.

In 1877 he became professor at the forest institute Aschaffenburg, 1889 at the University of Breslau, where he also became director of the botanical garden. Prantl worked particularly cryptogams.
