Karl Bücher

Karl Wilhelm books, rare Carl ( born February 16, 1847 in Kirberg, Hesse, † November 12, 1930 in Leipzig ) was a German economist. He was one of the founding fathers of the science of journalism in Europe. Innovative were his contributions to the sociology of work (labor and rhythm ) and Economic History ( The Origin of the economy ). He also dealt with reciprocal processes in society.

Biography

Books was the son of brush-making master Friedrich books, a small industrial production and agriculture operation in Kirberg, and his wife Christiane. Karl attended books 1863-1866 high school in Hadamar. At the universities of Bonn and Göttingen he studied Ancient History and Philology. After completing his doctorate, which he completed in 1870, it was 1872, the state exam and worked in the probationary year as a teacher in Dortmund. From 1873 to 1878 he was a teacher at the SN School in Frankfurt am Main. During this time he pursued national economic studies on its teaching activity also.

1878 books took an offer from the editor of the Frankfurter Zeitung, Leopold sun man, and there was editor of the social and economic ministries. From 1901 to 1923 he was editor of the journal for the entire political science.

He was interred in the columbarium at the South Cemetery Leipzig ( niche II/25 ). The urn was stolen in the early 1990s.

Foreign politicians and industrialists Hermann books was his nephew.

Honors

  • His students built him in Bad Love Stone in the forest near his summer home ( My Belvedere), a monument.
  • The Karl -Books- streets like in Bremen- Mahndorf and Leipzig- Paunsdorf were named after him.
