Karl Burger

Karl Burger ( born December 26, 1883 in Stuttgart, † October 3, 1959 in Freudenstadt ) was a German football player.

Burger began his footballing career in 1896 at Sportfreunde Stuttgart. In 1904 he left Stuttgart and moved to TV in 1847 Augsburg, for which he stood until 1907 on the court. With the change in March 1908 SpVgg Fürth him his breakthrough. As a left outer rotor he won among the Franks a regular place and was appointed first time in 1909 in the German national team. With the southern German national team, he won in 1910 and 1912 the Crown Prince Cup, 1908-1918, he played eleven times for the southern German selection in this competition. From 1911 he was in the DFB team held a regular place and was a 1912 squad at the Olympic Games in Stockholm. In his eleventh and last international game, the 16-0 victory over Russia during the Olympic tournament, he scored his only goal in the national jersey.

1914 Burger was Fürth first South German champion and then by a 3-2 win over VfB Leipzig and German masters. After the First World War, he returned in 1919, Sportfreunde Stuttgart back. In 1921 he moved again to Augsburg again before he even played on the SC 08 Breslau ( 1923-1924 ) for one year at Dresdner SC and in 1925 his active career ended. In his last few seasons Burger took over often defensive tasks and played mostly as a defender. After his playing career, he worked as a trainer, among other things in Castrop, Dresden and Wroclaw.
