Karl Friedrich Wilhelm Dieterici

Karl Friedrich Wilhelm Dieterici ( born August 23, 1790 in Berlin, † 30 July 1859 in Berlin), Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Dieterici or CFW Dieterici, was a statistician and economist.

Life

Karl Friedrich Wilhelm Dieterici studied from 1809 in Königsberg and Berlin, the rights and history, made as an engineer - geographer and officer in the headquarters Blüchers the campaigns against France and was employed by several times of other use in government service in 1820 in the Ministry of Culture, Berlin, 1831 Privy Councillor 1834 appointed while retaining his position in the Ministry professor of political science at the University and in 1844 as successor by Hoffmann Director of the Royal Prussian Statistical Bureau. In the years 1841/42 and 1851/52 he was Rector of the Friedrich -Wilhelms -Universität zu Berlin. After his death, Ernst Engel succeeded him in office. In 1847 he became a member of the Prussian Academy of Sciences.
