Karl Knortz

Karl Knortz ( born August 28, 1841 in Garbenheim in Wetzlar, † July 27, 1918 in North Tarrytown, New York ) was a German -American author.

Life

Knortz emigrated in 1863 to the USA and here dedicated to the teacher specialist. He was 1866-68 in Detroit (Michigan), on 1871 in Oshkosh ( Wisconsin), and later in Cincinnati (Ohio ) worked for the German language and literature. He was interested in the poet Walt Whitman and wrote two books about him.

He worked as an editor of the "German pioneer " in Cincinnati and the "Indiana German newspaper" in Indianapolis.
