Karl Platen

Karl Platen, Carl Platen ( born March 6, 1877 in Halle an der Saale, † July 4, 1952 in Weimar ) was a German actor.

Life

Karl Platen made ​​his first appearance in 1896 at the Theater Kiel. Further stations of his career on stage were Gera, Görlitz, Frankfurt an der Oder and Bielefeld. In 1906 he came to Berlin at the local Royal Theatre.

He was then forty years at different stages in Berlin, for example at the Central Theatre, Metropolitan Theater, Theater am Schiffbauerdamm and last until 1944 at the Theater am Nollendorfplatz.

After 1913, started his film career, he worked in the following years, usually in small roles in a large number of films. He was mostly used in the role of the compassionate servant. One of his best roles he had in 1929 in Joe May's Asphalt as a jeweler. In August 1944, Goebbels took him in the list of essential actor on within the Gottbegnadeten list.

In 1947 he moved to Weimar in the donated by Marie Seebach artist retirement home.

Karl Platen died on July 4, 1952 in Weimar.
