Karl Ruberl

Karl Ruberl, later Charles Ruberl ( born October 3, 1880 in Vienna, † December 12, 1966 in New York ) was an Austrian- American swimmer.

Ruberl was born in Vienna and swam for Austria Wien. In 1897 he won the German championship 100m breaststroke. Ruberl took part in the Olympic Games in 1900 for Austria. He participated in three contests, all went over 200 m. He won the silver medal in the backstroke and freestyle bronze medal. He also took fourth place in the obstacle swimming.

After the Olympics, he wandered in 1900 to the United States and was four years later an American citizen. He changed his name to Charles Ruberl and led the sport of swimming in his adopted home of New York on. He swam for the New York Athletic Club and was erschwimmen numerous American records. After his career, he went into the banking business and founded the Bank Bainbridge, Ryan & Ruberl that was active on the New York Stock Exchange. But Ruberl came before the New York stock market crash again in the banking business.

Ruberl was also an avid musician and played at the Brooklyn Academy of Music Violin and Piano. He lived until his death in New York City. He was also friends with the float Otto Wahle, who also came from Austria and emigrated to the United States.
