Karl Weissenberg

Karl Weissenberg ( born June 11, 1893 in Vienna, † April 6, 1976 in The Hague) was an Austrian physicist and one of the first rheologists.

According to him, the Weissenberg effect, the Weissenberg method and the Weissenberg number are named. He constructed at the beginning of the 1920s an X-ray goniometer, which was later further developed by Johann Böhm and was referred to as Böhm Weissenberg goniometer. Weissberg was a scientific member of the Kaiser Wilhelm Society.

His legacy is preserved in the Churchill Archives Centre.
