Karl Wilhelm von Meister

Karl Wilhelm von Meister ( born February 3, 1863 in Frankfurt am Main, † February 14, 1935 in Geneva ) was a German politician and diplomat.

Life and education

Wilhelm Meister was born as the eldest son of Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Meister, one of the founders of the Hoechst group, and his wife Marie née Becker. Von Meister served after the visit of the Municipal Gymnasium 1882/83 as a one-year volunteer and then studied law in Bonn, where he joined the Corps Palatia joined, and Berlin, and in 1886 received his doctorate in Heidelberg as a doctor of law degree.

District

After the second state examination, he was in 1891 as a government assessor at the District Office Hanau. In June 1892 he was appointed commissioner in February 1893 regular District Administrator of the newly formed peak. In December 1894 he was appointed as Acting Chief Executive of the Upper Taunus district and moved to Homburg. In July 1895 he was finally confirmed in this position and remained until 1903 in this office. 1898/99 he undertook a seven-month world tour.

Member of Parliament

1894 to 1895 he worked for the county maximum and 1896-1902 for the upper Taunuskreis member of the Nassau municipal parliament. In the municipal parliament he was 1894-1898 Member of the Finance, Audit and ways building committee. In 1901 he was a deputy member of the National Committee.

Originally a member of the Master of NLP have been and had belonged to the right wing. Later, he joined the Free Conservatives Nazi Party. For the general election in 1912 he was nominated by the Federation of farmers and the Conservative Association Reichstag as candidate in the constituency Nassau II. However, he was not able to compete as a common candidate of the bourgeois camp. Both the center and NLP presented their own candidates. Without this support, these parties saw no chance of success by masters and renounced the candidacy.

Government President

After the retirement he worked as a district administrator in the Prussian Ministry of the Interior from 1902 to 1905 in Berlin. There he was promoted in April 1903 to the Privy Councillor and lecturer advice. On July 26, 1905, appointed by Master President of the Government in the district of Wiesbaden. In 1915 he received the rank of Privy Council upper government.

The work at the head of the district of Wiesbaden ended on June 1, 1919, the resignation of the Master. The occasion was the invitation of the French Administrateurs, to place themselves under the orders of the separatists, who had proclaimed a Rhenish Republic on the same day. Wilhelm Meister was first marriage with Adele born Jordan de Rouville ( 1872-1897 ). In 1900 he married his second wife Leila born Trapman Gardner ( 1871-1957 ). From master was of Protestant faith.

Honors

In 1888 he was knighted by Emperor Wilhelm II with his younger brother Herbert in the hereditary Prussian nobility.

According to him, the main tower in Hofheim am Taunus was named. He was since 1902 an honorary citizen of Kronberg. In Bad Homburg the Wilhelm Meister street reminiscent of his father and him. The Wilhelm -von- masters foundation for social purposes still exists today.
