Karlstal

The Karlstal the Moosalb is in the Palatinate Forest ( Rhineland -Palatinate ) and registered under the number 335 055 Karlstal as a nature reserve at Tripp city.

Geographical location

The Karlstal is located about 10 kilometers south of Kaiserslautern near the spa town of Tripp city. The approximately 3 km long Karlstal can be walked on a footpath.

History

Friedrich Ludwig of Sckell, in Germany the first landscaped gardens designed, was in the 1780s involved in the renovation and expansion of the Trippstadter palace gardens. He learned the nearby Karlstal know and characterized it this way:

"One of the most beautiful valleys I have seen in this kind of ... have ... is in the rule Tripp city ... then called the Karlstal. "

As a result Sckell took in about one kilometer long center of the gorge of change and fit a hiking trail with wooden bridges and a wooden gazebo in the valley so one that the natural overall impression was more likely to strengthen.

An iron plaque at the entrance points to royal visit: ex-King Ludwig I of Bavaria, Grand Duke Ludwig III. of Hesse- Darmstadt and Archduchess Hildegard of Austria and his entourage visited the valley on August 9, 1862.

Landscape

The through by the Moosalb and largely unspoiled canyon part because of the large rock debris from the red sandstone of the region, the numerous small waterfalls and the old deciduous and coniferous tree population to those of the objectives in the Palatinate Forest, which are offered by the Tourist Board responsible than worth seeing.

On the left-hand slope of Karl valley, accessible only by a path barely attached, is a formerly inhabited rock cave above on level ground the blackbird Dell, a former park-like designed, now dilapidated from the 19th century, originally with a maze, a shooting range and a cabin was equipped.

Traffic

At its western end was along the Biebermühlbahn once the breakpoint Karlsthal, but this was due to lack of Renatabilität now abandoned. Nearest train stop has since Schopp.
