Karuna, Finland

Karuna [ kɑrunɑ ] is a town in the municipality Sauvo in the Finnish landscape Varsinais- Suomi. Until 1969, Karuna formed a separate municipality.

Karuna is located on the coast of the Baltic Sea around twelve kilometers southwest from the capital Sauvo. The main attraction of the place is designed by Josef Stenbäck Church of Karuna. The national romantic building of gray granite was completed in 1910. After the completion of the old church, dating from the 1685 wooden church of Karuna was dismantled and rebuilt at the museum Seurasaari in the capital Helsinki.

The municipality Karuna included not only the eponymous capital of the villages Broddböle, Tiikarla ( Dikarböle ) Eistilä ( Eistböle ) Eikniemi ( Eknäs ) Fröjdböle, Kustaali ( Gussdal ), neck Lahti ( Halslaks ), Haan Niemi ( Handby ) Hintsholma ( Hintsholm ) Karinkorva, Kasklahti ( Kasklax ) Kelturi, Nuuttiniemi ( Knutnäs ) Kupiluoto ( Kopp Holm ), Krooka ( Kråknäs ) Kärkkinen ( Kärkis ) Kärkniemi, Liden, Lemminen ( Lämmis ) Maalu, Maanila ( Mannböle ) Orssaari, Tuomaala ( Pukböle ), Päisterpää, Rantola, Ruskola ( Ruskulla ) Santasaari ( Sandö ) Savisalo, Sitolahti ( Sitolax ) Voilahti ( Smörvik ) Tapola ( Stappåker ) Teininki ( Steninge ) Raumala ( Strömsböle ) Sydänmaa ( Sydmo ) Timari ( Timböle ), Tuomaala ( Tomasböle ) and Torikka. The municipality Karuna had an area of 88.5 square kilometers and last around 1,200 inhabitants. 1969 Karuna was largely incorporated in Sauvo, the village Santasaari came to church Kimito.
