The place Kasilof is located on the lower reaches of the Kasilof Rivers in Alaska and is a census -designated place.

History

The Chairman of the Russian Lebendef - Lastochkin trading company, Kolomin, had 1786 first wooden huts on the lower reaches of the Kasilof Rivers build. When naming this small settlement he was probably inspired by a ship of the trading company and named the place " Saint George ". After the settlement was founded, the local indigenous people of the Dena'ina settled nearby.

In the Eighteenth Century the place was finally renamed in Kasilof, after the river that flows through it. 1937 they found some well-preserved remains of the original settlement in an excavation.

The inhabitants of the village are now living from fishing and tourism.

Located near the town there is a runway, through the Sterling Highway in Kasilof leads.
