Kästner (crater)

Kaestner is an impact crater on the eastern edge of the Moon front, southwest of Mare Smythii, southeast of the crater Gilbert and northeast of La Pérouse. The rim is eroded, the crater floor largely flat.

The crater was formed in 1961 officially named by the IAU after the German mathematician Abraham Gotthelf Kästner.
