Kataja Basket Club is a Finnish basketball club from Joensuu.
History
The club was founded in 1900. Since 1955 Kataja played in unterklassigen Finnish Basketballigen before 2001, the long-awaited promotion to the top league, the Korisliiga, succeeded. There one was directly third in the first season and won the Finnish Basketball Cup, the Suomencup. In subsequent years, the club established itself as a peak force of the Finnish club basketball, won two more times and the Cup was still four times vice-champion, most recently in 2012.
In the 2012/13 season Kataja participated in the Euro Challenge, where you came as a surprise and was the first Finnish club to the quarterfinals. There, they lost BCM Gravelines.

Kataja carries its home games in the comprehensive capacity of 7000 Joensuu Arena.
