Katarina Zrinska

Ana Katarina Zrinski ( born Francopan; * um 1625 in Bosiljevo, † November 16, 1673 ) was a Croatian poet.

Life

As the daughter of Prince Vuk Krsto Francopan Tržački, General of Karlovac, and the Ursula Imhofer born, married Ana Katarina on October 27, 1641 at the age of 16 years to twenty years Count Petar Zrinski; They lived mainly in Ozalj Castle (Northwest Croatia). The couple had a son ( Ivan Antun ) and three daughters ( Jelena, Judita Petronila and Aurora Veronika ).

Ana Katarina wrote about 160 poems in the Croatian language, which were made ​​available to the public until 1985. She turned to Pietism and two of her written prayer books (eg The companion ) were printed in Venice. Together with other poets, the so-called " Ozaljer circle ", you come to a high position in the Croatian literary history.

After her husband Petar Zrinski and her younger by seventeen years, brother Fran Krsto Frankopan within the Zrinski - Frankopan conspiracy and its suppression by the Habsburg monarchy in 1671 had been beheaded in Wiener Neustadt, the poet in the remaining two years, until her death interned with her daughter Zora Veronika in various monasteries; last in Graz; her daughter was later separated from her.

Ana Katarina Zrinski died on November 16, 1673 in the convent of Dominican nuns in Graz.
