Katarzyna Kobro

Katarzyna Kobro ( born January 26, 1898 in Moscow, † February 21, 1951 in Łódź) was a Polish sculptor German - Latvian and Russian origin. She represented constructivist conceptions of space.

Life

She was married since 1920 with the Polish artist Władysław Strzemiński ( 1893-1952 ). She studied from 1917 to 1920 at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. Kobro was a member of the Union of Artists in Moscow, as well as Kasimir Malevich, Olga Rosanowa, Vladimir Tatlin, Alexander Rodchenko. They organize the Smolensk branch of the Unovis, Ukilische nowowo iskusstwa, in one reading fasteners of the new art, the name of Malevich's art group in Vitebsk. They keep in touch with Malevich and Eliezer (El) Lissizki.

The end of 1921, beginning of 1922, she fled to Poland and Kobro acquired in 1924, Polish citizenship. The couple, with Henryk Berlewi, Henrik Stażewski, Mieczyslaw Szczuka and Teresa Żarnowerówna among other things, a member of the Blok Group of Cubists, Constructivists and supremacists. At least Wladyslaw Strzemiński leaves Blok end of the year.

1926 founded Kobro with Bohdan Lachert, Szymon Syrkus and other group Praesens The couple and Stażewski leave Präesens 1929 because of content differences. Strzemiński, Kobro Stażewski and the poets January Brzękowski and Julian Przyboś subsequently founded the group ar, usually read as a Revolutionary Artist, which existed until 1936. She is instrumental in the creation of a museum of Modern Art in Łódź 1930. In 1932, the couple member of Abstraction- Création. Kobro wears as a supporter of Károly ( Charles) Siratós Dimensionist Manifesto (Paris, 1936).

Kobro had with Strzemiński the daughter Jakobina ( Nika ) Strzemińska ( 1936-2001 ), who worked as a doctor in Łódź and wrote the biographical writings on artistic creativity of their parents.

Nina Czerkies played in 2011, directed by Maciej Wojtyszko the Katarzyna Kobro in the Polish television movie " Powidoki ".
