Katarzyna Piekarska

Katarzyna Maria Piekarska ( born September 23, 1967 in Warsaw) is a Polish politician, in the years 1993 to 2007 she was a Member of the Sejm in the II, III. , IV and V. legislature.

Curriculum vitae

In 1986, she finished the Stefan Batory in Warsaw Lyceum, then she studied at the Faculty of Law and Administration at Warsaw University and was a legal advisor.

It was founded in 1993 for the first time deputies from the list of Unia Demokratyczna (Democratic Union - UD ). During the election period, she moved at the instigation of Leszek Miller of the Unia Wolności ( Freedom Union - UW ) for Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej ( Democratic Left Alliance - SLD). In 1997, she was Vice Minister at the Ministry of Interior and Administration.

1997, 2001 and 2005, she won a parliamentary seat for the SLD in the constituency Warsaw. In the Sejm of the Fourth legislature she was Chair of the Commission for Justice and Human Rights. From 6 March 2004 to June 2005 she was Deputy Chairman of the SLD. In the presidential elections in 2005, she headed the electoral staff of the candidate Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz. In the early parliamentary elections in 2007, she applied unsuccessfully for re-election as deputies from the list of Lewica i Demokraci ( Left and Democrats - LiD ). In May 2008, she became the chairman of the SLD in the Masovian Voivodeship. In the same year she was elected at the state level also vice-chairman of the SLD.

She is Chair of the Association of Young women in politics and was Deputy Chairman of the Polish Red Cross.

Private

She was the wife of Leszek Kwiatek ( the former Director General of the Polish Post ) and has a son.
