Kateřina Holubcová

Kateřina Holubcová ( born June 28, 1976 in Ústí nad Labem, Czechoslovakia as Kateřina Losmanová ) is a former Czech biathlete.

She still lives in her hometown of Ústí nad Labem and trained during the SKP Jablonex in Jablonec nad Nisou. She was married to the Czech biathletes Tomas Holubec and is now romantically involved with Czech biathlon official Vlastimil Jakes, with which they have a son (* 2007).

Career

Kateřina Holubcová began under her birth name Kateřina Losmanová 1989 with the sport of biathlon. In 1995 she became junior world champion in sprint and launched in 1995 with her ​​first World Cup race. In the 1997/98 season they reached their first Top 10 ranking with the 6th place in the Pursuit of Kontiolahti. The 29th place at the end of this season in the World Cup was their best overall placement for several years. Although she reached back and re- placements in the points, they could hardly be improved in the following years. Low point was the 63rd place in the overall World Cup of the season 2000/ 01.

More successfully launched Holubcová but in the 2001/ 02 season. This was the first and only victory in the career of Czech, still this was the first gold medal for the Czech Republic for ten years. With the 5th place in the final mass start race Holubcová succeeded in the fourth World Cup race the fourth top- 10 finish. In all races of the season 2002 /03 Holubcová was able to place in the points, reaching the 8th place in the overall standings at the end of the season their best finish ever.

In the following years Holubcová did not match the consistent performance this season despite occasional good results. In the 2003 /04 season they reached the second place in the sprint in Antholz their last podium place, 9th place in the sprint of Östersund in the season 2004/05, their last Top 10 ranking. After the 2006 Olympics Holubcová announced her retirement from competitive sports.
