Katharina Borchert

Katharina Borchert (born 1972 in Bochum ) is a German journalist and since 2010 Managing Director at Spiegel Online.

She is the daughter of the Federal Minister (1993-1998) Jochen Borchert ( CDU).

Katharina Borchert studied law and journalism at the Universities of Hamburg and Lausanne.

As a freelance writer Borchert wrote among other things for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Die Welt, and c't. In 2002 she started her own blog Lyssa's Lounge, which she ran until 2007. In mid-2006, she joined the industry and was online editor of the Essenes WAZ media group. In this position, she developed the concept for the regional portal DerWesten.de. In 2007 she was promoted to managing director of WAZ NewMedia GmbH, was appointed to the Board of Directors of the WAZ Media Group in 2008 and was responsible for all online business media group.

2010 Borchert moved to the job of Managing Director of Mirror Online. After the former Publishing Director of the mirror, Fried von Bismarck, in 2011 retired from the German Press Borchert was his successor there.

Borchert heard since the end of March 2014 the Board of Directors of the Mozilla Corporation.

Awards

She was appointed a member of the Forum " Young Global Leaders " 2011 ( YGL ) in March 2011 by the World Economic.
