Katharine Merry
Katharine Merry ( born September 21, 1974 in Dunchurch, Rugby) is a British track and field athlete and Olympic bronze medalist.
Already at the European Junior Championships in 1993, she won five medals, including two gold medals over 200 meters and 4 x 100 m. At the British National Championships, she won the 1998 gold over 200 m and 1999 also gold in the 400m. At the World Athletics Championships 1999, she was fifth in the 400m.
Your biggest achievement is winning the bronze medal over 400 m at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney behind Cathy Freeman (AUS) and Lorraine Graham ( JAM). A year later she ran her personal best with 49.59 s. Injuries, however, made afterwards to continue their career impossible, so she officially announced her retirement from the sport in 2005.
