Katherine Jenkins

Katherine Jenkins OBE ( born June 29, 1980 in Neath, Wales) is a Welsh mezzo-soprano.

Career

At the age of 23, she signed 2004 has been highly lucrative recording contract Classical Music UK, which included a not precisely announced seven -figure sum.

2005 Jenkins was the first time publicly in front of the rugby union game of the British and Irish Lions vs Argentina at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, the anthem The Power of Four before.

She stepped on the Berlin stage of Live 8 in 2005, entitled Amazing Grace. It was here in the first half to a vocal solo and the rest of it was supported by a single, subtly played piano. The Last Night of the Prom 2011, she appeared with And This Is My Beloved on from the musical " Kismet ".

In 2010 she took on a role in the Christmas special "A Christmas Carol " by the British science fiction television series Doctor Who.

Prizes and awards

Jenkins album Second Nature was named Album of the Year at the Classical Brit Awards on 25 May 2005. This prize is awarded by the listeners of Classic FM.

In 2014 she was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
