The Kaunas University of Technology ( KTU in Lithuanian: Kauno technologijos universitetas ) is the largest technical university in Lithuania and the Baltic States. It has about 19,000 students ( 2006), of which 550 in doctoral programs.

History

The University is the successor of the Kaunas Polytechnic Institute ( Kauno politechniko institutas KPI), which had taken the place of the university during the time of the Soviet Union from 1950 to 1990. 1989 ( high school of the Technical University of Kaunas now ) was at the Polytechnic Institute of Kaunas Experimentische middle school founded.
