Kavajë District

The circle Kavaja (Albanian: Rrethi Kavajes ) ​​is one of the 36 administrative districts of Albania. The circle with an area of 393 km ² part of Tirana County. He has 62 242 inhabitants ( 2011). It was named after the main town circle Kavaja.

Geography

The district lies to the south of Durres in central Albania on the coast of the Adriatic. At a broad coastal plain in the east includes a craggy hills with heights up to 400 meters on. Shortly before the sea level is again shared by a range of hills, the Kodrat e Kryevidhit. The southern border of the circuit Lushnja is formed by the river Shkumbin. In the plain at the mouth lies the fortress Bashtova, a well-preserved castle from the 15th century.

Population

The population is rural. Outside the cities Kavaja and Rrogozhina (just over 5,000 inhabitants) live most of the inhabitants of agriculture.

Kavaja was founded on the route of important trade connections. Even today, one of the main roads of the country passes through the circle of Durres and Tirana to southern Albania. This was expanded in 2000 into one of the first highways of the country. In Rrogozhina in southeastern share the road and the railway line in the Hekurudha e Shqipërisë. To the west, you pass through Shkumbin Valley on the route of the ancient Via Egnatia to Elbasan and on to Lake Ohrid, Albania and Macedonia to southeast ( no rail ). South of Rrogozhina cross the railway and roads to Shkumbin and lead to Lushnja and southern Albania.

Tourism

One of the main sources of income in the district is likely to represent the future of tourism. While the beach of Spilleja not yet developed large in the southwest of the district, has been used in Golem on the Bay of Durrës a real boom. Directly between the main street and beach numerous hotels, apartment houses, holiday homes, restaurants, cafés and nightclubs opened in a pine forest.
